Lincolnshire Open Research and Innovation Centre SME Open Event

The recently unveiled Lincolnshire Open Research and Innovation Centre opened its doors to local SMEs on 17th October, welcoming business owners from a wide range of sectors including health & social care, leisure & recreation, IT, and construction.

On the day, attendees were invited to complete a short survey to gauge their thoughts around how they currently use data for their business. The results found that 78% of those who responded felt that their business wasn’t using data as efficiently as it could, with areas that SMEs wanted to explore further including: customer segments, market intelligence, and data protection/GDPR compliance. These are all areas that LORIC is aiming to address in its support of SMEs.

What's next for LORIC?

LORIC is continuing its individual work with SMEs, collaborating with them to create a free bespoke programme of support to help them to grow and bring innovations to their business. If this support is something that you feel could be beneficial to your business, please email us at LORIC@bishopg.ac.uk to arrange an appointment.

LORIC will also shortly be releasing a calendar of events aimed at supporting local SMEs to access data driven innovation, including:

  • A range of workshops
  • Data Clinics
  • Networking events
  • Opportunities to find out more about Open Data, such as through live streaming the Open Data Institute’s Lunchtime Lectures.
